Strawberry Basil Lemonade

Ingredients
  

Lemonade Base
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2-3/4 cup sugar or honey adjust to taste
  • 4 cups cold water
Herb Infusion & Garnish
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves lightly bruised
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • lemon slices optional garnish
  • strawberry slices optional garnish

Equipment

  • Blender
  • pitcher
  • fine mesh strainer

Method
 

  1. Blend strawberries with 1/2 cup water until smooth to create a strawberry puree.
  2. Strain the puree into a pitcher to remove seeds and pulp.
  3. Add fresh lemon juice, remaining water, and sugar or honey to the pitcher. Stir until dissolved.
  4. Lightly bruise basil leaves and add them to the lemonade to infuse flavor for 10–15 minutes.
  5. Add ice and stir well, then serve in glasses garnished with lemon slices, strawberries, and basil.

Notes

For a sparkling version, replace half the water with sparkling water. Adjust sweetness depending on the ripeness of strawberries.
