Matcha Base
  • 2 teaspoons matcha powder ceremonial or culinary grade
  • 2 tablespoons hot water not boiling
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey
For Serving
  • 1 cup milk any variety
  • 1 cup ice cubes
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract optional

Method
 

  1. Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl to remove clumps.
  2. Add hot water and whisk until smooth and frothy.
  3. Stir in maple syrup and vanilla extract until combined.
  4. Fill a serving glass with ice cubes.
  5. Pour milk into the glass over the ice.
  6. Slowly pour the matcha mixture over the milk and serve immediately.
