Ingredients
  

Meat Sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 24 oz marinara sauce
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
Cheese Filling
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp parsley chopped
  • 1/4 tsp salt
Assembly
  • 12 lasagna noodles cooked
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 1 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • fresh basil for garnish

Equipment

  • 9x13 baking dish
  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowl

Method
 

  1. Cook onion and garlic in olive oil until softened.
  2. Brown ground beef and stir in marinara sauce and seasonings. Simmer 15 minutes.
  3. Mix ricotta, egg, parsley, and salt.
  4. Layer sauce, noodles, ricotta mixture, mozzarella, and parmesan repeatedly.
  5. Bake covered at 375°F for 25 minutes, then uncovered for 20 minutes.
  6. Rest 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best texture, allow the lasagna to rest before slicing.
