Ingredients
  

Sugar Cookie Dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
Royal Icing
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp meringue powder
  • 5 tbsp water adjust as needed

Method
 

  1. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Cream butter and sugar, then mix in egg, milk, and vanilla.
  3. Combine wet and dry ingredients to form dough, chill for 1 hour.
  4. Roll dough, cut shapes, and bake at 180°C for 8–10 minutes.
  5. Prepare royal icing and decorate cooled cookies.

Notes

Chill dough for best results and allow icing to fully dry before stacking cookies.
