Ingredients
  

Main Base
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 pinch salt
Optional Add-ins
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips optional

Method
 

  1. Heat cream, milk, and half the sugar until steaming.
  2. Whisk egg yolks with remaining sugar, then temper with warm mixture.
  3. Cook mixture until thickened, then add vanilla and chill.
  4. Churn in ice cream maker until soft-serve consistency.
  5. Freeze until firm before serving.

Notes

For best texture, chill the mixture overnight and avoid over-churning.
