Ingredients
  

Banana Bread Batter
  • 3 large ripe bananas mashed
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 eggs room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Optional Topping
  • 2 tbsp peanut butter melted
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips for topping

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and prepare a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mash bananas and whisk with peanut butter, butter, eggs, vanilla, and brown sugar.
  3. Combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl.
  4. Mix dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Transfer batter to loaf pan and swirl melted peanut butter on top.
  7. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  8. Cool for 15 minutes in pan before transferring to a wire rack.
  9. Slice and serve.

Notes

For the richest flavor, use very ripe bananas with dark brown spots and high-quality cocoa powder.
