Cake Batter
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.75 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.75 cup cocoa powder
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • 1.5 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water
Chocolate Frosting
  • 1 cup butter softened
  • 3.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 0.5 cup cocoa powder
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.25 cup milk

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C and prepare cake pans.
  2. Mix dry ingredients, then add wet ingredients and combine.
  3. Add hot liquid, bake, cool, prepare frosting, and assemble cake.

Notes

Use hot coffee instead of water for deeper chocolate flavor.
