Caramel Apple Pie Bombs

Ingredients
  

Apple Filling
  • 2 cups apples peeled and diced
  • 0.25 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
Assembly
  • 1 can crescent roll dough
  • 12 caramel candies
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Baking sheet
  • Wire rack
  • Hand mixer or stand mixer

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cook apples, sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and vanilla in a saucepan until softened.
  3. Add cornstarch slurry and cook until thickened, then cool.
  4. Fill dough pieces with apple mixture and a caramel candy.
  5. Seal into balls and brush with melted butter.
  6. Roll in cinnamon sugar and place on baking sheet.
  7. Bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly and serve warm.

Notes

Serve warm for best gooey caramel texture.
