Ingredients
  

Strawberry Syrup
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries hulled and sliced
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
Tea Base
  • 4 black tea bags
  • 4 cups hot water
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 2 cups ice cubes
For Serving
  • 1 cup fresh strawberry slices for garnish
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves

Equipment

Method
 

  1. Add strawberries, sugar, water, and lemon juice to a saucepan and simmer for 10–12 minutes until the strawberries soften and release their juices.
  2. Strain the strawberry syrup through a fine mesh sieve and allow it to cool completely.
  3. Steep the tea bags in hot water for 5 minutes, then remove the tea bags and let the tea cool slightly.
  4. Combine the brewed tea with the cooled strawberry syrup and cold water in a large pitcher.
  5. Refrigerate the tea for at least 1 hour until thoroughly chilled.
  6. Serve over ice and garnish with strawberry slices, lemon rounds, and fresh mint.

Notes

For a sparkling variation, replace part of the cold water with sparkling water just before serving.
